Debate

Offered for Part-time period and Bilingual Program – Full-time: 6th to 9th grade
Debate

Course proposal:

Aiming to go beyond just baselessly agreeing or disagreeing, the debate is an important collective resource to exchange ideas, and so, to the collective construction of arguments contemplating different points of view and perspectives. This way, we will deepen the study of the oral discursive genre of the argumentative debate, practicing the art of great argument, a skill that is based on rhetoric, logic and general culture.

About the teacher:

Vitor Schvartz has a PhD in Philosophy from USP and a postdoctoral degree from Johns Hopkins University. He loves to debate and build argumentative tools with his students so they can become more persuasive and be the leaders of the future that society needs. Words convince, but example drags: we need to create good debaters but also great citizens and human beings.
